Catherine Hendrix has worked in the public sector in public transportation for over 24 years. She recently retired from the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) working in security and protective services.
Catherine has experience in operations and maintenance administration; grant writing; budgeting; contract administration; human resources; emergency preparedness and security. Catherine was a member of the Regional Transit Security Working Group and previously served as the Chairperson. She worked closely with law enforcement and federal and state regulatory oversight agencies, including the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) surface transportation sector.
Catherine holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration (MPA) from San Jose State University.
Catherine, a California native, lives in South San Jose with her husband. She is the mother of two adult children both who currently work in the aviation industry for major carriers. Her daughter is a commercial pilot and her son is a flight attendant and is currently in the process of obtaining his commercial pilot’s license. Catherine is also passionate about environmental issues and concerns and volunteers in the annual coastal cleanup.
While serving as Airport Commissioner, her priorities continue to focus on airport and passenger safety and security, emergency preparedness, environmental issues affecting the airport and the surrounding area, transportation options to and from the airport, consumer satisfaction, reasonable airport growth and development while being sensitive to community needs and concerns.
