Tom Cruz possesses ten years of aviation experience working for United Airlines based out of the San Francisco International Airport. Mr. Cruz has traveled extensively for business and pleasure within North America and worldwide to various countries throughout Europe, Asia, South America and Australia. Mr. Cruz was also a former Licensed Financial Representative through the Securities and Exchange Commission making him well experienced in budgeting, money management, financial reporting and investment management.
Subsequently, Mr. Cruz chose to devote himself to the public and he has been working for the County of Santa Clara since 2007. He is very active in the San Jose community and is a board member of the Basking Ridge Homeowner’s Association representing 600 residences. His overall work experience in aviation combined with finance, leadership responsibilities and commitment to the local residents is an asset.
As an airport commissioner, Mr. Cruz’s key objectives will be to address the security threats and breaches for the safety of our community and visiting population, expansion of flight routes to increase revenue for the City of San Jose and continue to utilize technology to make Mineta San Jose International Airport the best in class.
Mr. Cruz attended the University of Utah on a U.S. Air Force ROTC scholarship studying Electrical Engineering and Physics. Mr. Cruz has lived in San Jose since 1998 with his wife, Angelica, and a recent addition of a rescue cat, Rusty.
