How do I get into the Airport? What’s the process? Who do I contact to get in?

As part of the redevelopment of Mineta San José International Airport we have implemented a program to improve and expand in-terminal Food & Beverage (F&B) and retail concessions. As a part of this process, on October 12, 2007, the Airport released a Request for Proposals (RFP) for this new program. RFP submissions will be reviewed by the City of San José for selection.

Business owners wanting to do business at the Airport, need to work directly with Prime Operators and Developers who are interested in responding to the RFP. Prime Operators/ Developers take the lead in putting together a group of businesses interested in being part of the F&B and/or retail operations at the Airport. Business owners should contact all interested Prime Operator/Developers and, if they come to an agreement on a business relationship, the Prime Operator/Developer may then incorporate that business into their RFP submission.

More information including the RFP and Prime Operator/Developer list can be found on the Airport website.

More detail information about the process can be found at: http://www.sjc.org/about/retail.html

The RFP is located at: http://www.sjc.org/about/master_plan.html

Why did I receive an email telling me the RFP has been released? Has the process changed? Do I work directly with the Airport now? What’s the next step?

The email you received was to let you know that the RFP has been released and the Prime Operator/Developers have a time frame in which to respond to the document. You should continue to be in contact with the Prime Operator/Developers so that they may include you in their proposal. The proposals are due no later than January 10, 2008.

Are you going to mail out the RFP? I can’t download the RFP so how do I get a copy of it?

The Airport will not be mailing the document as it is 480 pages. The Airport has posted the RFP on its website at:
http://www.sjc.org/about/master_plan.html

The RFP is in Portable Document Format (PDF). You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the PDF documents. Download this free software from Adobe's website at www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html.

Who should attend the Pre-proposal Conference?

The Pre-proposal Conference on October 30, 2007, at 9:00 a.m. at the Wyndham San Jose is a mandatory meeting for the Prime Operators and Developers who will be submitting proposals for the food, beverage and retail concessions program at the Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport.

I own a restaurant/retail store and would like to do business at the Airport. Should I attend the Pre-proposal Conference?

You may attend the Pre-proposal Conference. For additional information, please see our website at www.sjc.org. You should also contact the Prime Operators/Developers who will be submitting proposals to the Airport. You can access a list of their names at www.sjc.org/about/retail.html.
